Now find out about these attacks on the city and the city's privateers who helped feed the city when the Spanish subsidies were slow to arrive.

Privateer Letter of Marque issued by Don Manuel de Montiano, Governor General, St. Augustine, La Florida Providence. Dated April 16, 1740. This replica Authorizes the Captain and Ship to protect La Florida by attacking and capturing pirates and enemies of Spain and to return plunder to help support the Spanish colony of St. Augustine.

This document has space to enter the Captain's name, Ship and Date to set you up as an authorized privateer for His Majesty, King of Spain.

When ordering specify the Captain's name, date & name of your ship and we will print them (free of charge) on the letter of Marque for you in a script similar to Don Manuel de Montiano's signature.
