Rhiannon M. Boyal

 (aka Yvette LeBlanc but only to her VERY Closest Co-horts) and sometimes called “Cat” by other crew members.  

Born in  Sussex , England (or possibly the Champagne region of France , it never was quite clear.)

Healer for the crew of the Black Gryphon, Rhiannon, has had a very colorful life. Born to Alyce Boyle and a man rumored to be rogue French Nobleman Pierre LeBlanc. At the age of 12 with the aide of an unknown accomplice, (although many have said that it was indeed her father, the Rogue LeBlanc),  for crimes rumored to be everything from the murder of a French Nobleman to Witchcraft, she escaped the sentence of death on the executioner’s block

She fled to the New World , where she was adopted by an Indian Medicine/Holy Man, Kodta (“Bear” in the Indian tongue.) and  was raised as his own daughter. He gave her the name of Oma, which means “Red Cat” in his Native tongue, because of the color of her hair, her yellow eyes and her temper. He taught her his people’s way of worship, healing and general survival skills, which included everything from how to tan a buffalo hide & use it to make clothing & shelter to fighting with staff, knife and bow, before insisting it was time for her to go home some 14 years later.

 She met and became friends with Captain Lister and the rest of the Crew when she booked passage on the Black Gryphon as she made her way back to England. Seeing that the crew could use one knowledgeable in the art of healing and knowing that she had no family or friends to stay with in England she petitioned Captain Lister for a position with the crew as Healer. He granted her this but only after she provided him with an herb which eased a great pain he was having in his head.

There are many unspoken  rumors which surround her, not the least of which is that she is a Witch as was her mother whom was burned at the stake, or that she is the prodigal daughter of a rogue French Nobleman. However she has become a friend and part of the crew regardless of the rumors...and still she searches for her father.

Although she is a Healer she has no reservations about going into to battle & killing if needed to survive or protect her friends. She is especially protective of her fellow females. As she was taught during her stay in the New World that “everyone must fight to survive from time to time be they man, woman or child.” She carries a jewel encrusted scalping knife given to her by her adopted father. Then there is the matter of her somewhat elongated canine teeth, which she uses to bleed patients when necessary. When fighting will use whatever is handy...although she is most adept with staff, dagger or that nasty little scalping knife. She also has an odd shaped tattoo on her left breast which she acquired in the New World as part of her right of passage to full fledged medicine woman/healer.      “A friend is a friend until he proves himself otherwise, then, he’s a toad!”
