Joseph is a pirate
historian and an avid pirate reenactor. He has given speeches on the
“Age of
Sail” and General Pirate History at schools and libraries as-well-as
appeared
on television and radio several times including interviews and a series
of
commercials with his wife Chris.
Joseph believes that
in order to play the pirate and act the part you must include pirate
lore into
your everyday life. He transformed a little room in his home into his
version
of a ship’s “cabin” to help set the mood for his writing and
reenacting.
Sailing ships sit atop shelves surrounded by pirate figurines guarding
a
treasure chest of booty. Flintlock pistols and various types of swords
stand
ready against imagined intruders. Charts, maps, and nautical
instruments adorn the
walls for inspiration.
So don’t be
surprised if you visit St. Augustine and turn down some quaint street
and bump
into Joseph and his pirate character, “Saucy Jack”, celebrating another
historical event with his pirate re-enactor friends.
Joseph is available
for your event or reenactment.
