Joseph O'Steen The Author's Ship's Cabin Escape with Joe In a small room, in a modern neighborhood not
far from the historic center of Florida an Industrial Engineer sits at his computer, diligently working on his latest project. It is not a factory layout or a product flow that captivates Joseph O’Steen’s focused attention. Joe has escaped not only his daily vocation but has escaped this century, traveling into the past, to a time when men were made of iron and ships were made of wood.
The Engineer for Northrop Grumman Corporation by day and a writer of Napoleonic War at Sea Novels at night. Last year the little room in his home ceased to be his home office and was transformed into his sea cabin to help inspire his writing. Sailing ships sit atop shelves surrounded by pirate figurines guarding a treasure chest full of booty, (skulls, gold and jewels). Flit lock pistols and various types of swords stand ready to repel borders or serve as a quick reference for some passage Joe is writing. Charts, maps and nautical instruments adorn the walls to aide Joe in his navigation through his story line. Joe calls working in his cabin “getting into t he mood” and it seems to be working just fine. In 2003 Joe published “Falcon’s Revenge”, his first novel in the six book Nathan Beauchamp of the Royal Navy series. Joe’s cabin now has a space with book reviews and newspaper articles about his first book and his writing. Thanks to Tallshipsbooks.com, amazone.com and Barnes and Noble, Joe’s novels are read here and in seven foreign countries. Joe believes you have to live your story to make it believable. The cabin provides Joe a stirring inspiration for British Naval warfare that he wishes to share so he is having a full British Naval Captain’s uniform and Pirate costumes for book signings and lectures to local groups. Joe’s future sea adventures will continue to be inspired by his little cabin and will be published close
